During the summer 2013, while most people were probably soaking up the sun in an island somewhere near Jamaica or Africa, I stayed in England and got involved in different courses. One of them being a 'Introduction into Filmmaking' course.
The course, which lasted for a week, was at Rich Mix studios in Shoreditch near brick lane. This was my first time being in this area and I found it to be such cool place with an urban vibe.
During the course, I gained an insight of how to develop ideas for a script, how to shoot and edit a film with all the lighting and sounds which goes into producing a film. Towards the end of the week, we actually developed a script and shot and edited our own short film.
I met the most amazing and creative people on this course and I am so glad that I had the courage to go to this course. I was so nervous beforehand because my knowledge of movie making was second to none before this course. I thought that all the other people would be genii in cinematography and compared to them, I'd just look silly. However, it was nothing like that and I actually found people in the similar situation as me, who was interesting in the 'behind the scenes' action
of film and wanted to develop knowledge of how to make a film.
From this experience, I'd definitely recommend to people that you shouldn't be afraid to try something new because you never know where it could lead you to. Don't let fear stop you from achieving the very best.
For those who are interested, the course which I attend was run by the company Furtureversity. They run a lot of course throughout most holiday breaks, this includes half-terms, in the London area. There course range from learning how to act and improvise, learning how to DJ or song write to dance classes, sport and or course film making.
For those not in the London area, but still would like to get involved in courses during your holiday's, search the internet or looking through you local newspaper for courses that are run in your area. You wouldn't want to miss out.
Without further ado, I'd Like to present you with the move: Body Switch.
